: 14 sts = 4”; 10 rows = 4” in pattern using smaller hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

NOTE: To change color, work last stitch of old color to last
yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.

With smaller hook and A, ch 116.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—115 sc.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), working in back loops only, skip first 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc, *skip next 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from * across to last 3 sc, skip next 2 sc, dc in last sc, turn—twenty-eight 4-dc groups and 1 dc at each end.

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc in first dc (V-st made), *ch 1, V-st in space between next two 4-dc groups; repeat from * across, ch 1, V-st in top of turning ch, turn—29 V-sts.

Row 4: Ch 1, working in front loops only, sc in each dc and ch-1 space across to turning ch-space, sc in turning chspace, sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn—115 sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across, turn.
