Patchwork Star Ornaments

Let those fabric stars shine bright like diamonds on your Christmas trees. Today we’re going to make some patchwork star ornaments that are great for your leftover fabrics and super simple to make. These require absolutely no special skills and they can also be made by your kids and grandkids. Your Christmas trees will definitely be super colorful and full of different fabrics and patterns.

Materials needed:

  • Christmas star templates
  • Craft scissors
  • Fabric scraps – 1 larger for the main star and 5 smaller strips for the shapes (you can construct your star with 5 different fabrics for each kite as I did).
  • Fabric marker
  • Sewing shears
  • Ribbon (5″ long per star)
  • Ruler, measuring tape or seam gauge
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread to match the type of fabric used
  • Sewing machine needle to match the type of fabric and thread used
  • Iron with a steam setting
  • Hand needle
  • Point turner or blunt tool
  • polyfill or other type of filling
  • Buttons or pompoms (2 per star) (for unique buttons)
