Odorous Lavender Mason Jar Candles
Spring days are coming and we are looking forward to enjoy flowers blooming in our gardens. Let`s wait a little bit and make nason jar candles with lavender. I adore this plant and why not? It has got the relaxing scent, pretty foliage and lovely color.
Lavender is easy to dry: you should just collect stems, tie them and hang to dry. So, if you have a few stems and some free time, let`s make fragrant candles.
Things you need:
- two glass mason jars with wide mouth openings and smooth surface, the smaller jar should fit into the larger one with a small gap between surfaces
- dried lavender stems
- candle Wax – white soy wax or white paraffin wax, 2 cups
- candle wick with clip and sticker, medium size
- double boiler
- wood skewer
- scissors
- lavender essential oil
- twine (optional)
Let`s start!
Step 1.
Clean and completely dry your glass mason jars. Using a double boiler, slowly melt the candle wax. Don’t overheat as the wax may burn. Remove from heat.
Step 2.
Stick the clip of the wick to the center bottom of the small mason jar.
Step 3.
Add 15 drops of lavender essential oil to the melted wax and stir. You can add more, if you want stronger scent.
Step 4.
Slowly pour the wax into the prepared jar.
Step 5.
Wrap the long end of the wick around a skewer and rest the skewer across the top of the jar. This will keep the wick centered in your jar as you pour the rest of the wax.
