Your kids won't want to leave these DIY play tents that are just for the kids, no adults allowed. A tent can become a magical world where your child is in charge of it all and can make-believe all day long. Making your own DIY play tent or fort is a great way to save money. You can buy one at the store for over $100 and it won't be as good of quality as one you can make yourself.

If you can drill a hole in wood, then you make this DIY play tent. You'll use dowels and moulding to make an A-frame and then fabric to make the tent cover. There are also some tips here on how to paint your tent frame to match your fabric. I love that this simple a-frame tent folds flat to tuck away. Plus, with no sewing or major power tools required, this DIY project is a breeze for even a beginning crafter. And if you want to make it in under an hour, just skip the paint!

Materials:

  • (3) wooden dowels (1/2" x 48" each)
  • 1"x2" wood board (comes in 8' lengths, get 2 boards cut into 4' sections at the hardware store)
  • 1/2" spade drill bit
  • Drill
  • Painter's tape
  • Foam paint brush
